WORKPLACE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INFORMATION SYSTEM – The revised course which incorporates the new GHS – Global Harmonization system.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS:
All Canadian employers and employees, manufacturers and Suppliers that could handle, control or mix dangerous chemicals under specific GHS Classes.
On February 11, 2015, the Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR) was published by the Government of Canada. A new system entitled the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) – is an internationally recognized standard for hazard classification and communication.
The main components of WHMIS are hazard identification and product classification, labelling, safety data sheets, and worker education and training Suppliers, Distributors and Manufacturers have new requirements for Supplier Labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). The WHMIS 2015 legislation is currently in force. “In force” means that suppliers may begin to follow the new requirements for labels and safety data sheets (SDSs) for hazardous products sold, distributed, or imported into Canada
Employers must train personnel in the new WHMIS 2015 program, which includes Pictograms and Hazard warnings and SDS.
When a hazardous product is used in the workplace, employers are required to:
- Train workers on the hazards and safe use of products.
- Ensure that WHMIS hazardous products are properly labelled.
- Prepare workplace labels, as needed when Supplier labels aren’t available.
- Prepare SDSs, as necessary (e.g., if an employer manufactures a hazardous product that is used on their work-site).
- Provide access to up-to-date SDSs (16 sections) to workers.
- Ensure appropriate control measures are in place to protect the health and safety of workers as per OHS regulations.
Employee requirements include:
Workers will participate in WHMIS education and training programs, take necessary steps to protect themselves and their co-workers, and participate in identifying and controlling chemical hazards.
Aligning with GHS provides many benefits, including:
- Hazard classification criteria are more comprehensive which improves the indication of the severity of hazards.
- New hazard classes are included on the labels.
- Physical hazard criteria are now consistent with the Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG regulations).
- Standardized language (hazard and precautionary statements).
- Standardized SDS format and more comprehensive details

AllstarEnviroSafety greatly values your business. In order to provide consistency and equality for all our students and clients, exceptions to the following policies will not be offered.
COVID 19 Policy
All registrants are required to bring face coverings to class. Note if you do not have one we can supply one for a small fee. Dependent on the course, you may also be required to wear gloves (ie SFA).
Please do not attend and let us know immediately if you have COVID 19 symptoms, been exposed to someone with COVID 19, or have travelled in the past 14 days outside of Canada, or if you have been ordered by a Public health authority to quarantine.
Refund / Transfer and No Show Policies:
To be eligible for a full refund or to transfer to a new course, notification in writing, must be received no lessthan five (5)business days prior to the start date (excluding the day of the course). If changes are requested within 3 to 5 business days prior to the course date a 25% administration fee will be charged.
Registrants who notify us within 2 business day prior to the course or just do not show up, are not eligible for transfer or refunds and forfeit all registration fees.
A "No Show" is defined as a student who does not attend or arrives within 15 minutes (late)of course start times.
On-line Courses - All registrations are final and no Refunds are available.
AllstarEnviro Safety Course Cancellations:
AllstarEnviroSafety reserves the right to cancel classes. Cancellation notices are via email or phone. In the unlikely event that your training course does not take place after your booking has been confirmed, we will make every effort to reschedule the course and you will be offered an alternative date to take the course issued.
Blended first aid courses can not be refunded. Once the link is sent to a client, we cannot obtain a refund from the First aid institution.
A course prerequisite: any requirement a program identifies as necessary for a student to have successfully completed before taking the course. For example, H2S Alive, Common Safety Orientation and Ground Disturbance require that you bring government issued picture i.d. to the class. For recertification of CPR and First Aid, H2S Alive Blended Renewal. It is a requirement to send us the ticket to prove that the card has not expired yet.
It is the right of AllstarEnviro Safety and/or the instructor to cancel a student's registration in a course if the student has not satisfied the published prerequisites for the course. Failure to provide proof of prerequisites on the day of the training will result in a full forfeit of course fees. Students are ultimately responsible for knowing and adhering to course prerequisites.
Third Party Registrations and Payments (companies, parents, spouses, friend, etc.)
As a third-party registrant, you agree to these policies on behalf of the student. It is the third party’s responsibility to ensure that all communication for the program is received by the student. AllstarEnviroSafety will not release any of the Student’s personal information, to the third party without the Student’s prior written consent including grades, or copies of tickets.
Some risk is inherent in all courses. Many programs include lifting, hanging from a tripod, putting on breathing apparatus, rescuing and doing compressions repeatedly. By enrolling and participating in these courses, it is understood that you are aware of this element of risk and accept it as an integral part of the activity. For those of you with any limitations, please identify them at the time of registration so we can do our best to accommodate your needs.
Cell phones, Cameras and Electronic devices
For the protections of our student’s privacy, the use of personal electronic devices for recording, photographing and video purposes is strictly prohibited. Please use electronic devices respectfully in all areas.
Our programs require a certain level of literacy and a grasp of the English language to pass. Most programs do not accommodate an oral exam. In addition, please bring your necessary hearing aids and glasses so that the student can grasp the program being delivered.
AllstarEnviroSafety strives to provide our students with a safe and appropriate environment to facilitate learning. If AllstarEnviro Safety staff determine that a student’s behavior is disruptive or threatening, the staff may take any action he or she deems prudent to protect themselves. This can include discussing the matter with the student, asking the student to leave or calling the police.
