This course is designed to cover awareness of the detection and control of flammable and toxic atmospheres. This information will help you remain safe while working around potentially dangerous gases. TThe features and operation of the most common detector tube devices (bellows and piston) and gas monitors (personal, portable, and fixed) is presented. The student will learn about explosive ranges, toxic atmospheres, vapour detection,oxygen levels, flammable substances, flammable gas principles, and much more!

Anyone entering a work site that requires any type of gas detection equipment. This equipment can be found on many sites including plant sites, drilling operations, servicing operations, pipeline operations, up stream and down stream oilfield operations, confined spaces, and more.

GAS DETECTION ONLINE COURSE TOPICS

Module 1: Introduction to Gas Monitoring

This module introduces you to the topics that will be covered throughout the course, what you can expect, and why this course is important for you.

Module 2: Detector Tube Devices as Sampling techniques

This module introduces you to the most common types of detector tube devices and the methods for operating them safely.

Module 3: Continuous Gas Monitors – Personal, Portable, Fixed

This module thoroughly covers the three types of continuous gas monitors: personal, portable, and fixed. It also explains how to safely don, operate, maintain, and use this detection equipment as well as perform a bump test.

Module 4: Combustible Gas Monitoring

This module provides a thorough explanation and operating procedures for combustible gas monitors. Explanations provided for semiconductor sensors, catalytic sensors, thermal conductivity, display features, equipment related challenges, and measurements.

Module 5: Fixed Continuous Monitoring

Introduction to fixed continuous monitors including their functions and characteristics.

Module 6: Gas Testing Procedures

An overview of gas testing and the use of gas detection equipment.

TESTING MODE: The final exam includes 20 questions . It allows three attempts to pass with an 80% mark to be certified.

GAS DETECTION ONLINE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION:

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be issued a non-transferable certificate as an awareness program. Taking the Manufacturers gas monitoring certification is recommended
