The Canada Respiratory Protection online safety course is a comprehensive learning program that covers the fundamentals of respiratory protection. In order to take the Canada Respiratory Protection online safety course, participants must have a basic understanding of the principles of respiratory protection and a working knowledge of the Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

Topics covered in this training include common respiratory illnesses, appropriate personal protective equipment, safe work operations, and associated hazards.

This program provides detailed information on the respiratory protection requirements for both Canadian and international standards.

The following Canadian Standards for CSA are covered:
CSA Z94.4-11 – Selection, use, and care of respirators
CSA Z180.1-13 – Compressed breathing air and systems

Students should check the local standards for respiratory protection, as they vary provincially and other jurisdictions.
Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of a comprehensive respiratory protection program and learn how to assess, select, and maintain respiratory protection equipment. The program also covers topics such as hazard assessment, the selection of the correct respirator, and the use and maintenance of respirators.

Students should have access to a computer or other electronic device with internet access, and possess the ability to read and understand English. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This Respiratory Protection safety training course is OSHA compliant. This online version fulfills OSHA’s classroom training requirement. The online sections cover common respiratory illnesses, the selection and use of PPE and how to use it correctly, hazard assessment and safe operations.

There are intermittent practice quiz questions to prepare for the written final exam. As required by OSHA, it also includes a checklist for employers to use when administering a practical exam .

Estimated Training Length: Because everyone learns and progresses at different speeds, the amount of time you spend taking this training will vary. However, the estimated time for this training is 1.5 – 2 hours.
