The Canadian oriented online safety course covers the fundamentals respiratory protection in a comprehensive manner. Participants should have a basic understanding of the principles of respiratory protection to fully comprehend the material and knowledge of the Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (OHS).

It provides detailed information for Canadian and International standards on respiratory protection requirements.

Fundamental topics include common respiratory diseases, appropriate respiratory and personal protective equipment, safe work operations, and common hazards . Consider local standards for respiratory protection, as they vary provincially and in other jurisdictions.

Canadian Standards for CSA regarding respirators that are covered:
CSA Z94.4-11 – Selection, use, and care of respirators
CSA Z180.1-13 – Compressed breathing air and systems


Workplaces should develop a comprehensive respiratory protection program and learn how to assess, select, and maintain RPE (respiratory protective equipment). Topics covered include hazard assessment, correct respirator selection, and the maintenance and use of respirators.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This complies with OSHAs classroom classroom training equivalency as a Respiratory Protection safety training course. The sections cover common respiratory illnesses, hazard assessment , safe operations, the selection and use of PPE and how to use respirators correctly, .

Exam: Throughout the program there are intermittent practice quiz questions to prepare for the written final exam. The online course includes a checklist for employers to use when administering a practical exam as required by OSHA. Pass mark is 80% with 2 chances to complete the test successfully.

Computer: Students should have internet access and to a computer or other electronic device access. Basic English literacy is required . Participants will receive a certificate of completion upon successful completion.
