Ammonia is a commonly used product in industry that produces fertilizers, explosives , plastics and pharmaceuticals. Consumers use it as a household cleaner, a refrigerant, a cleaning and bleaching agent
Most of the ammonia in the environment comes from the natural breakdown of manure and dead plants and animals. It has a bad reputation for being a hazardous product, but is an essential element to plant, animal, and human life. In fact, it is a source of much needed nitrogen for plants and animals. The purpose of this course is to discuss these managable hazards of Ammonia including the means to protect yourself against them.
