This program contains audio, video, and interactive exercises. If you are looking for a comprehensive defensive driving program that also is approved for demerit reduction, then this is it. This program teaches the trademarked SAFER System of Defensive Driving.

A government certificate will be mailed to you within 3-5 business days. To obtain your recognition of completion, take your government certificate to a local registry office within the province of Alberta. Alberta residents are eligible for a 3 demerit reduction once every 2 years of the program.

Optionally, non-Alberta residents can take this program, but they will not qualify to receive the 3 demerit point reduction; in this regard, they only receive an online course completion certificate.

3 Demerit Reduction Program (Alberta) Instant Online Course

You can take a Defensive Driving Course or a Professional Driver Improvement Course to minimise the number of demerits on your driving record. To avoid a demerit driving suspension, you must finish the course prior to the conviction date of the driving offence that resulted in your demerit suspension. You must make an appointment with a licenced driving training school.

After completing the course satisfactorily, you must submit the Notice of Driver Education Course Completion form to any Alberta registry agent to have it recorded on your driving record. A registry agent service fee may be charged.

The course completion form is valid for two years after it is issued. A driver training course can only be applied to your driving record once every two years. If you have a pending or active suspension, you should not apply for a merit credit until your driver’s licence has been reinstated, as you will not profit from it.

If a merit course was wrongly included or applied to your driving record, you can seek assistance from the registry agent where the merit course was applied.
